Obituary for Leonard J. Peterson

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids for Leonard J. Peterson, age 83, who passed away Thursday at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Leonard was born March 23, 1934 in Pomroy Township, MN to Leonard William & Annie (Stransky) Peterson. He married Ruth Sutton on June 15, 1957 in Danbury, WI. Leonard worked at Frigidaire in St. Cloud for 43½ years, retiring in June of 1996. He enjoyed walks, deer hunting, western TV shows, desserts, and his favorite chair. Leonard was a gentle, kindhearted man who was always willing to help. He was known to his family as “the boss”.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Ruth of Sauk Rapids; children, Elizabeth “Betty” Blare of St. Cloud, Tammy (Chad) Roerick of Sauk Rapids and Randy (Julie) Peterson of Rice; sisters and brother, Josephine (Richard) Hamersma of Blaine, Darlene Peterson of Pine City, Elizabeth “Liz” Gimpl of Pine City, Sharon (Dennis) Fischer of North Branch and Larry Peterson of Hinckley; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tim; sisters, Helen Carlson and Leona Schultz; brothers, Kleo and Bernard “Bud” Peterson; and granddaughters, Candy and Nicole Peterson.
