The Funeral Service for Eula “Fern” (Stay) Erickson, age 86, will be Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 11 AM at Wyanett Evangelical Free Church, Princeton, MN. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 6 from 4-7 PM at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Princeton, and one hour prior to the funeral service. Fern died Saturday, December 2, 2017, at her home in Princeton.

Fernie was born on November 23, 1931, to Arthur and Bertha (Shirkey) Stay in Glendorado, MN. She attended grade school in Glendorado and in 1944 her family moved to Gilroy, CA. Fern attended and graduated from Gilroy High School in 1949 and worked at the Gilroy Telephone Company. During her high school years, she and her parents traveled back to Glendorado and Princeton, MN, every summer. It was on one of these visits that she met Chester Erickson. Chester drove truck hauling eggs and potatoes. After meeting Fern, he began making more trips out to California.

In June of 1951, Fern moved back to Minnesota, and on September 28, 1951, she married Chester Erickson at the Wyanett Free Church parsonage. They began their family with four children and lived their entire life together on their farm in Wyanett also attending Wyanett Evangelical Free Church.

In 1954, they started Erickson Lime Hauling. In 1969, they started the John Deere dealership in Princeton and sold the business in 1983. Fern was a life member of the Princeton American Legion Auxiliary. Starting in 1996, they spent their winters down in Desert Sands Golf Course in Mesa, AZ, where they enjoyed friends and golfing. They also built a home in Dubois, Wyoming, and enjoyed four-wheeling in the mountains of Wyoming.

She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with children and grandchildren. She especially loved cooking, baking and hosting holiday events. She looked forward to any time family and friends could be together.

Fernie is survived by her four children, daughters, Beverly (Jim Miller) Erickson, Palm Harbor, FL, Kathy (Bruce) Linden, Princeton, Connie (Don) Wangen, Cambridge, and son, Robert (JoAnne) Erickson, Princeton; ten grandchildren, Jeremy (Tracie) Linden, Melissa (Chad) Manthei, Brian (Sarah) Julson, Ambree (Troy) Garrity, Scott (Kelly) Lasco, Corey (Kelly) Erickson, Kayla (Cass) Bowen, Jennifer (Andrew) Meyer, Aaron (Susan Bialka) Julson, Jay (Hilary) Erickson; great-grandchildren, Olivia Garrity, Presley Lasco, Gabriela Garza, Erika, Nolan, Addison, and McKenna Linden, Isabel and Isaiah Manthei, Drew and Carter Julson, Sage Bowen, Jasper, Kira, and Keaton Erickson, Holden Meyer, Ephraim Erickson; sisters-in-law, Lydia Stay, Princeton, and Viola (Erickson) Hayes, Marshall, MO; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
