Obituary for Mildred C. Trunk

Mildred C. Trunk, age 98 of Princeton, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Mildred Clara Wilhelm was born in Greenbush Township to Albert J. and Lena E. (Gebert) Wilhelm on April 11, 1919. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended District 5 and 10 Country Schools. After her education she worked as a nanny in the Twin Cities.
On November 4, 1938, Millie married Loren Trunk at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. They made their home in Long Lake and Kimball, MN and in 1947 moved to the Wilhelm farm in Greenbush. Over the years Millie worked at Twin City Arsenal, Cambridge State School and Hospital and Federal Cartridge in Anoka.
Millie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church all but 10 years of her life. She was very active in Ladies Aid, Sunday school teaching, Funeral Committee, Eunice Circle, pie baking, quilting and crafts. Sewing over 100 layettes each year for Lutheran World Relief and suggesting Beet Pickle making as a fundraiser were contributions she was very proud of. She was a hospital auxiliary volunteer for 30 years. The sudden death of her husband in 1979 broke her heart, but the Lord has walked with her and has been her constant companion ever since. Mildred retired in 1982, sold the farm and moved to town in 1987. She enjoyed “Coffee Time” after Sunday services with her friends and was known for her tender care of African violets. Millie loved to make and share her famous jellies, especially chokecherry and strawberry. Her children and grandchildren brought her much joy and she loved to cook and bake for them.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Pamela (Richard “Skeeter”) Lane; her son, Loren “Mike” (Karen) Trunk; grandchildren, Julie (Julie Stace) Lane, Jeffrey (Della) Lane, Gordon (Thanh Luyen) Trunk and Barry Trunk; special daughter, Ruth Bongo of Minneapolis; brother, Alvin (Marlene) Wilhelm of Big Lake; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loren; her brothers, Bernard and Pastor Max Wilhelm.
