Lee was born in Richmond, MN on December 19, 1926 to Joseph and Mary (Schlangen) Torborg. He served his country in the United States Army at the end of WWII. He graduated from St. John's University in 1951. Lee married Mary Kraemer on October 3, 1953 at St. Mary's Cathedral in St. Cloud. Lee owned and operated Torborg Construction, building many homes and apartments throughout the St. Cloud area. Lee had a long history of community involvement in the St. Cloud area. His involvement was often quiet and unassuming, yet the impact was far reaching. The Diocese of St. Cloud, the Church of St. Paul, Central MN Community Foundation, College of St. Benedict, Saint John’s University, Catholic Charities, and Cathedral High School are but a few of the organizations made stronger by his involvement. Lee was a man of strong faith and had an unending love for his family. He truly cherished time spent with family and friends, especially manhattan happy hours, pontoon rides on Grand Lake and daily bantering with his numerous coffee buddies.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of St. Cloud; children, Steve (Sharon) of Luxemburg, Barb (Greg) Melsen of Minneapolis, Tim (Lori) of St. Cloud, Mike (Kim) of St. Augusta, Karen (Jerry) Morris of Burnsville, Lisa Kent of Sartell, Lynn (John) Rothstein of Cold Spring, Joe (Lisa) of St. Augusta; brothers, Harold (Jane) of St. Cloud, Ralph (LaVerne) of Minnetonka and Melvin (Betty) of Richmond; brother-in-law, Fr. Edwin Kraemer and sister-in-law, Ella Kraemer; 29 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many treasured nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fr. Lawrence Torborg and Fr. Elmer Torborg.

A special thank you to CentraCare Hospice and Quiet Oaks Hospice House for their compassion and care during Lee's final days.

Memorials are preferred to Quiet Oaks Hospice House, The Central MN Community Foundation, or The Cathedral High School Education Foundation.
