Obituary for LeRoy Hill, Jr.

Funeral Services will be at 11AM on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud for LeRoy Hill Jr., age 66, of St. Cloud who passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 25, 2017. Chaplain James Neppl will officiate and burial with honors will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls. Visitation will be from 4-8PM on Sunday, October 29th and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

LeRoy Hill Jr. was born October 20, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri to LeRoy and Idella (Dorsey) Hill. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. LeRoy dabbled in several career opportunities until his retirement due to health concerns. He married Lori Magee on July 9, 2001 in Brainerd, MN. LeRoy was a member of various organizations such as: the African American Male Forum, Parents of Children of Color, Create Community, past President and Legal Redress for NAACP St. Cloud Branch, and Waite Park American Legion. He was also involved in Boy Scouts of America as Committee Chair for Pack #28, and Den Leader for Den #13. LeRoy proudly received the Whitney Young Jr. Service Award from the Central Minnesota Council Boy Scouts of America. He could often be found buffing his black Mustang convertible, listening to Jazz music loudly, teaching kids to play chess, doing the casino circuit or working on do-it-yourself projects around the house. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed creating music on his keyboard, cooking and barbecuing for family and friends. He was charismatic, had an infectious smile, was an advocate for all and lived each day to the fullest; LeRoy will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

LeRoy is survived by his wife of 16 years, Lori of St. Cloud; children, Joy Hill of St. Louis, MO, LeRoy Hill III of Brookings, SD, Devin Hill of Salt Lake City, UT, Lance Hill of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Lawrence and Ashley Hill; sister, Laverne Bridgeman of Bakersfield, CA; mother-in-law, Jackie Magee of Randall; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kevin (Virginia) Magee, Mike (Shirley) Magee, Beth (Jim) Beyer, Steve (Angie) Magee, Chris (Kari) Magee; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Melvin Hill.
