Obituary for James "Jim" M. Barber

Memorial services will be Noon on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at MN State Veteran’s Cemetery near Little Falls for James M. “Jim” Barber, age 83, of Sartell, who died Wednesday at his home. Rev. Brady Finnern will officiate and burial will be in MN State Veteran’s Cemetery with full military honors.

Jim was born March 2, 1934 in Minneapolis to Russell & Ione (Burchett) Barber. He married Joan Huberty on March 23, 1953 in St. Cloud. They lived most of their life in the St. Cloud area. Jim served his country in the Army followed by the Navy during the Korean War. He was a busy man, driving truck, owned and operated Barber Property Supply and Maintenance and worked for Torborg Builders for many years. Jim was a lifetime member of St. Cloud Legion Post 76, East Side VFW Post 4847 and St. Cloud D.A.V. Chapter 9. He was a man of many talents, a self-taught mechanic who could fix anything. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mowing the lawn on his John Deere. He was an amazing caregiver, husband, father and grandfather!

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Joan of Sartell; children, Mark (Nancy) of St. Cloud, Terri (Lelan) Moe of Monticello, Paula Braun of Clear Lake, Jeff (Jill Bertram) of St. Cloud, Ellen of Rice Randi (Roger) Rodriguez of Sauk Rapids, Darin (Morgan) of Sartell; brother, Gary (Diane) of Waite Park; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Russell; son-in-law, Brad Braun; brother, Floyd “Sonny” and an infant brother, Daryl.
