Ida Ruth Brustad, 65, Princeton, MN, died on Thursday, May 13th, 2010 at Casa Grande, AZ, following a valiant struggle with cancer.
Ida Brockton was born on December 18, 1944 at Northfield, Minnesota and was raised and educated in the Dundas-Northfield (MN) area, graduating from the Northfield High School. Following graduation, she married and she and her husband owned and operated a number of motels. They came to Princeton in 2003 and she began working with the Elim Oasis Adult Care. She was united in marriage with Wayne Brustad on August 28, 2008 at Watertown, South Dakota. She was diagnosed with cancer a year ago. She retired from the Elim Oasis in December of 2009, before leaving for Arizona.
Ida loved her family, her church family, her soul mate: Wayne and bonded quickly with Wayne’s friends. She enjoyed camping.
She is survived by her husband: Wayne; two daughters and a son: Karen (Russell) Vance of Princeton, MN, James (Tanya) Holbrook in Texas, and Debra (Gene) Homan) of Colorado Springs, CO; three step children: Jeffrey (Brenda) Brustad of Maple Grove, MN, Julie (Dave) LaBell of Memphis, TN, and John Brustad of Two Harbors, MN; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and two step grandchildren; two sisters and a brother: Bernice (Joel) Stenhaug of Dennison, MN, Dan (Pat) Brockton of Longville, MN, and Marianne (Lynn) King of Sierra Vista, AZ; a step brother: Edward Wolf of Faribault, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Maxine Wolf; step-father: Willis Wolf and two step-brothers.
Visitation: 1-2 PM, Saturday at the church.
Service: 2 PM, Saturday, May 22nd, 2010 at Cross of Life Community Church, Princeton, MN.
Burial: Oak Knoll Cemetery, Princeton, MN
